My Approach and Process For Printing Fine Art Prints

As an artist myself I understand the need to reproduce artwork faithfully in terms of colors and values as well as rendering the textures and brushstrokes as they appeared on the original work. I make every effort to assure the highest quality prints. When printing, I treat your artwork as I treat my own. If there is a flaw in the print, I will reprint it until it is right.

The recommended paper choice for fine art prints is an archival quality matte finish paper or if a gallery wrapped canvas print is desired, an archival quality matte canvas treated with multiple coats of a UV filtering varnish.

Color Management Is Critical

As an artist you selected colors and values to create the mood, tone, and impression of the work and it must be preserved.

Every effort is made to render your works accurately. Each photoshoot begins with capturing a reference image using a color calibration target which is later used when processing the images to create a custom color profile to assure the colors rendered in the finished images are as close as possible to those used in the original work. All image processing work is done on my wide gamut 4K monitor that is regularly color calibrated to assure end to end color management. All printing is done with ICC profiles specific to the paper and printer used to maintain end-to-end color management.

Fine Art Print Options

Fine Art Matte Paper

I have found Canson-Infinity produce exceptional prints with a high-level of detail and faithful color rendering. My standard paper is Rag Photographique 210 gsm. I am happy to work with you on paper selection to achieve the look you desire.

Gallery Wrapped Canvas

You can replicate the paint on canvas format with gallery wrapped canvas prints. I use Breathing Color Lyve canvas and stretch each print by hand over 1 1/2 inch stretcher bars. For prints larger then 30”, cross braces are added to strengthen the stretcher frame and avoid warping and twisting over time.
