from $75.00

Limited edition print available matted on fine art paper, and as a gallery wrap canvas. Each signed and numbered by the artist.

Copernicia baileyana, also known as Baily Palm and Yarey Palm is a unique fan palm endemic to Cuba. This image of the top of one in a cluster of massive specimens found in the Cuban Palm garden at the Key West Botanical Garden. Here viewed in the infrared spectrum the fronds appear white due to all of the light at that end of spectrum is being reflected back toward the camera and the sky goes dark as little IR is reflected out of a clear sky.

I have enjoyed experimenting with an older camera body I had converted to IR. It allows me to see the world differently and create striking images at times when a traditioanl visible spectrum camera would produce far less engaging images, such as mid-day with a clear sky.
